Because He loves us, God can't stand for us to be separated from Him.

God is the perfect parent.
But because He is perfect, He can't allow our sin to go unpunished or He wouldn't be perfect anymore.

Somebody has to pay for all the things we have done wrong, that have hurt God and separated us from Him, or we can't get back with Him.

It doesn't matter how many good things you try to do, you can never do enough of them to make up for the bad things. We're all like that.

The perfect plan means someone has to pay.
God chose His own Son, Jesus Christ.
He had Jesus be born as a little baby and be raised by his earth parents.

When Jesus grew up, He was killed on a cross by some very bad people.
This was OUR punishment for OUR sins, but Jesus took it instead of us having to take it.
(Kind of like YOU breaking your Mom's best lamp, and your brother being willing to take your punishment instead of you.)

Three days later, Jesus Christ came to life again.  It's not just a story.  It really happened.

He did it so you could do it too when you die.
When you accept what Jesus did for you that day, you get to be where He is when you die.
